Teaching software on a moving train

My talk at STAR Junior Enterprise

This March, I had the opportunity to give a talk at STAR Junior Enterprise 🎙️

The session covered two main topics.

The first was my research project: an automated test correction system built with Claude AI, GitHub Actions and Pytest. A system that detects, analyzes and automatically fixes errors in Python code whenever tests fail. The kind of tool that makes you rethink how much of the development cycle can actually be delegated to AI.

The second was about building real digital products with AI, using some of my own SaaS projects as reference to walk through how I think about business logic, architecture decisions, and how AI fits into the product, not just the code.

It was a great experience!

From concept to a product in production

I don't just deliver code. I deliver products that work, scale and serve the business.

Before the first line of code, we define the business model, access roles and user journey together. Every technical decision answers a concrete goal.

Each capability lists the projects where I applied it.

Describe your project and I'll recommend the right technical approach.

Self healing continuous integration: autonomous repair of failing tests with large language model agents

    E. Nunes, A. Silva and R. Costa

    Topics
Large language models, Automated program repair, Continuous integration, Software testing

    Abstract

Failing tests interrupt the development flow and delay delivery. We present an agent that runs inside a continuous integration pipeline, analyses failing test reports, proposes a patch and submits it as a separate pull request for human review. We evaluate the approach on Python and TypeScript repositories and discuss the trade offs between automation and developer control.

    Abstract

Field teams often work where connectivity is unreliable, yet AI assisted platforms depend on fresh and consistent data. This article describes an offline first architecture for collecting and delivering data on mobile devices, the synchronization strategy that reconciles it with a central platform, and lessons learned from its integration with an AI based management system.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of projects do you build?

SaaS platforms, web applications, internal systems and integrations between tools. I follow the project from product definition to deployment and maintenance.

Which technologies do you work with?

Mainly TypeScript, Next.js, React and Node.js, with PostgreSQL databases. I use Python and FastAPI for data and artificial intelligence services.

Do you work with companies outside Covilhã?

Yes. I work from Covilhã with clients in Portugal and Brazil, remotely or on site when the project calls for it.

Do you build artificial intelligence into products?

Yes. I integrate large language models into concrete features, such as generating assessments from documents, planning schedules or diagnosing and fixing code.

How do we start a project?

Send a message on WhatsApp or by email describing what you need. We schedule a call to understand the goal and I present a proposed technical approach.
